600 million euros for the decarbonisation of industry

Entrepreneurs in industry can obtain money to purchase technologies for reducing carbon emissions, which are essential for meeting decarbonisation targets. The Ministry of the Environment is asking companies that could meet the decarbonisation scheme to send in their proposals. The goal is to use the funds efficiently to reduce CO2 emissions and maintain the competitiveness of industry until 2035.

Entrepreneurs in industry can obtain money to purchase technologies that reduce carbon emissions in production; the decarbonisation of industry is also something the European Commission commits us to. From European money, 600 million euros is allocated for Slovak industry, but there is little time to use it. The Ministry of the Environment is asking companies that could meet the decarbonisation scheme to send in their proposals. These will be incorporated into the call. The call can help companies obtain greener technologies that they would have to invest in soon anyway.

"There are many companies that are already carrying out some decarbonisation projects today. To put it simply, companies that already have some decarbonisation project under way today, that will have permits for it, that will already have some plan, could theoretically manage it by 2026, because the change might only be that until now they planned to pay for it all themselves and now, within some call, the state would contribute partially, which is of course a positive step on the part of the state towards industry. Of course, companies that do not yet have even some project plan ready today probably will not manage it,"
says Andrej Lasz, Secretary General of APZD.

What benefits does investing in decarbonisation bring for companies?

"Quite simply, cheaper money, that is how the whole thing is set up. In essence the banks said that if you have green production, you will get a loan with lower interest,"
adds Lasz.
