18th International Competition of Professional Knowledge and Practical Skills of Vocational Secondary

On 5 and 6 June 2025, the 18th International Competition of Professional Knowledge and Practical Skills of Vocational Secondary School Students was held at the Secondary Vocational School of Mechanical Engineering in Považská Bystrica. The competition focused on the fields of metal machinist, mechanic-setter and programmer of machining and welding machines and equipment.

Students from partner schools from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Germany took part. The competition consisted of a practical part focused on turning and milling.

Competition results:

Individuals:

1. place – Timotej Dej (SOŠ technická Čadca)

2. place – Antonín Przeczek (SOŠ Třineckých železáren, Třinec – Kanada)

3. place – Filip Janco (SOŠ technická Dubnica nad Váhom)

Teams:

1. place – SOŠ technická Čadca

2. place – Odborné učilište thyssenkrupp rothe erde, GmbH

3. place – SOŠ technická Dubnica nad Váhom

Special awards:

Best turner – Timotej Dej (SOŠ technická Čadca)

Best milling operator – Arthur Werz (Odborné učilište thyssenkrupp rothe erde, GmbH)

The home team of the Secondary Vocational School of Mechanical Engineering in Považská Bystrica took part this year on a non-competitive basis, in order to create space for a fair comparison of the performance of the other schools.

An interesting feature of this year's edition was the participation of three female students, who confirmed that technical fields are accessible and manageable for girls as well.

Ranking in the girls' category:

1. place – Milena-Marina Ebers (Odborné učilište thyssenkrupp rothe erde, GmbH)

2. place – Anežka Przeczková (SOŠ Třineckých železáren, Třinec – Kanada)

3. place – Nikola Lukšiková (SOŠ Frýdek–Místek)

The competition was held in cooperation with the professional guarantor – thyssenkrupp rothe erde Slovakia, a.s., and partners: Klaster zamestnávateľov a SOŠs Považská Bystrica, Zväz strojárskeho priemyslu SR, HAAS Automation, Inc. and Slovenské liečebné kúpele Rajecké Teplice, a.s.

From the event, the competitors took away not only material prizes and awards, but above all valuable experience, new contacts and motivation for further professional growth.
