Recreation vouchers also for employees' parents

A draft law from the SNS could extend recreation vouchers to employees' parents, which could strengthen domestic tourism. Employers fear that the original purpose of the vouchers could be lost and that employees would not have the chance to rest. The proposers expect increased interest in recreation in Slovakia, but some hoteliers point out that not all employees will be able to use the vouchers.

Recreation vouchers could be extended to employees' parents. The draft law from the SNS will be debated by MPs at the next parliamentary session. The proposers expect higher interest in domestic tourism. Employers fear that the original purpose of the vouchers will be lost.

The proposers expect that interest in recreation in Slovakia could be even greater. Employers, however, fear that transferring the recreation voucher to parents will come at the cost of the employee not getting any rest.

"We are losing that original purpose. As a result, the employee remains unrested, but the recreation voucher is spent"
says Andrej Lasz, Secretary General of APZD.

Employers want to incorporate changes into the law so that social funds can also be used for contributions to domestic holidays.

"Paradoxically, if a company, within collective bargaining, contributes to a foreign seaside holiday, that can be paid from the social fund, but domestic holidays in Slovakia are prohibited from the social fund,"
adds Lasz.
