APZD seminar on AI: We stand at the beginning of a new industrial revolution

The future of industry with artificial intelligence is closer than we think. With Professor Ivan Sekaj from the Institute of Robotics and Cybernetics of FEI STU in Bratislava, we looked at the specific changes that AI is already bringing today. Representatives of member companies had the opportunity to learn how AI influences production, the labour market and what challenges and opportunities it brings.

Focus of the seminar

The programme brought everything essential about artificial intelligence – from its first steps to how it shapes industry today. We discussed where AI is already making processes more efficient, what threats may come with it and everything it can bring us in the near future.

  • History of artificial intelligence: The development of AI from its earliest beginnings to today's advanced level.
  • Current state of AI, technologies and applications: Current applications of AI in industry and the technologies that support its growth.
  • Possibilities of using AI in industry: How AI can increase efficiency, prevent outages and optimise processes.
  • Risks of AI: Potential risks associated with AI, such as the misuse of autonomous technologies and questions of ethics.
  • Socio-economic aspects of AI: The impact of AI on the labour market today and in the future.
  • Prospects of AI in the short and long term: What developments can be expected in the coming years and what the long-term prospects are.

What did we learn?

The seminar showed how AI can make everyday operations easier – from identifying potential problems to taking over routine activities. Participants left with a clear idea of how AI can save time and free up space for work that truly moves the company forward.

  • Replacement of skilled positions: The development of AI enables automation even in areas that traditionally required high expertise, which has a direct impact on the labour market.
  • Streamlining production: The integration of AI and robotics brings new possibilities for increasing productivity and reducing costs.
  • Risks of AI misuse: Among the main concerns is the risk that AI may be misused to manipulate information, spread disinformation and other threats.
  • Technological singularity: The possibility that AI acquires consciousness and its own goals, which represents a challenge for society.

The industrial revolution with AI is already in motion – those who prepare for it today will have a head start when it fully breaks out.
