Changes to the dates of secondary school entrance exams for the 2025/2026 school year

With the aim of providing applicants and schools with up-to-date information on the admission procedure for the 2025/2026 school year, we bring an overview of important dates and changes in the organisation of entrance exams. Given the current situation and the need to adapt the organisational procedures, some dates have been postponed.

It is very important that you communicate these changes to your applicants in time and thus ensure the smooth course of the entire admission procedure. As in previous years, all official information on the dates and other conditions of the entrance exams will be available on the website of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, where they will be continuously updated.

In the following section you will find the exact dates for the 2025/2026 school year that concern the entrance exams, the submission of applications and the publication of results.

New dates for grammar schools, secondary vocational schools, schools of applied arts and conservatories for fields of education in which verification of special abilities, skills and talent is required:

• 1st date 24 March 2025
• 2nd date 31 March 2025

The principal of the secondary school is obliged to publish the list of applicants according to results by 8 April 2025.
The legal guardian of a minor applicant is obliged to confirm in writing to the secondary school the acceptance for education by 11 April 2025.

Dates for grammar schools and secondary vocational schools for fields of education in which verification of special abilities, skills and talent is not required:

• 1st date 5 May 2025
• 2nd date 12 May 2025

The principal of the secondary school is obliged to publish the list of applicants according to results by 16 May 2025.
The legal guardian of a minor applicant is obliged to confirm in writing to the secondary school the acceptance for education by 21 May 2025.
