The Federation of Mechanical Engineering Industry of the Slovak Republic at the International Engine

The Federation of Mechanical Engineering Industry of the Slovak Republic (ZSP SR) took part in the International Engineering Fair (MSV) in Brno on 7 – 11 October 2024, where our member companies M-D-J spol. s r.o. and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of STU in Bratislava also exhibited. We shared the ZSP SR stand together with these two important exhibitors, who presented their innovative solutions in the field of technology and production.

  • Design: indoor, non-container, frame-mounted

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of STU in Bratislava also awarded

Our exhibition recorded another success when the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava won an award in the category „Innovations in transport and logistics“. Together with the Faculty of Civil Engineering of BUT in Brno, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of BUT in Brno and the company Prefa Brno a.s., they developed a flexible modular system for building cycle paths on unused railway lines.

Characteristics of the awarded exhibit

This progressive modular system is designed for the rapid and non-destructive transformation of unused railway lines into cycle paths. The system consists of composite concrete panels of angular geometric shape and special connectors. The connectors enable simple fastening of the panels to the rails and their connection into a continuous surface for a cycle path.

The key benefit of this system is the possibility of rapid disassembly and reuse of railway lines without damaging them, which makes it an exceptionally flexible and practical solution for infrastructure. The development of this system is still ongoing, but it already offers enormous potential for improving sustainable mobility in cities as well as in rural areas.

We are immensely proud of the successes of our member companies at MSV 2024 and we believe that their innovations will continue to strengthen the position of Slovak mechanical engineering on the international market.
